Senior and Multi-Family Building Green Features
  • High Flyash Content Concrete: Flyash is a byproduct of coal fired power plants. Using this by-product diverts the waste from being dumped in landfills and provides a stronger, more water resistant concrete.

  • Large, double-glazed vinyl windows with double, Low E glass increase daylighting and energy conservation.

  • Efficient framing to reduce use of wood.

  • Low VOC paints.

  • High-energy efficiency boilers, air conditioners and appliances.

  • Wind-generated electricity.

  • Compact fluorescent lighting.

  • Recycled or recyclable building materials used in decking, carpeting, tiles and selected flooring in community spaces.

Single-Family and Townhome Green Features
  • Farm-produced engineered lumber products. These wood products require 50% less wood. The wood used in these products is produced on a farm and uses no old growth, rain forest trees.

  • Large windows, light colored interior walls, ceilings and soffits as well as light colored arpets which help reduce the need for daytime electric lighting.

  • Large dimension solid lumber has been avoided in floors and roofs wherever possible.

  • Energy efficient mechanical systems, water heaters and household appliances.

  • Furnace is centrally located so that all duct runs are reduced as much as possible and duct work joints sealed with low toxic mastic.

  • Thermostat features an "on" switch for furnace fan to circulate air, therefore making the home more comfortable without A/C.

  • Thermostats are programmable, allowing the home owner to set it to automatically change for different comfort levels - such as warmer in the evening when lounging and cooler when sleeping, thus, electronically saving energy

  • Dishwashers feature energy saving cycles as well and the gas ranges, cooktops and ovens have electronic ignitions.

  • Built-in kitchen recycling centers in the homes.

  • All homes sealed to prevent air infiltration. Upon completion, we do blower door testing, which helps us identify the "tightness" of the home.

  • Sealed combustion gas fireplace uses outside combustion air.

  • Double-glazed, energy efficient windows with 1/2" of air space.

  • Landscaping done with native species of grasses, trees and plants that will require less water.

Recycled Construction Materials Include:
  • OSB for sub-flooring and exterior walls

  • Reconstituted content siding for exterior walls

  • Recycled content insulation

  • Recycled carpet pads

  • Hardboard interior doors

  • Engineered wood "I" joints in floor and roof trusses.
